Welcome on Board @TUXEDO
Part 38

The open source universe has been expanding steadily for years. This not only drives the software community further and further, but also ensures growth at TUXEDO Computers. We are continuously expanding our workforce: Whether in support, development and server administration, or in product management and marketing.

At TUXEDO Computers, many Linux and Open Source enthusiasts find a professional home. Maybe there is a suitable position for you, too? Don’t worry: You don’t have to have Linux-positive blood in your veins. We won’t bite, even if you prefer apples or windows. In the following, we would like to give one of our newest team members the opportunity to introduce him- or herself a little.

Peter - Development

How old are you?

I am 45 years old.

Are you from Augsburg?

I was born in Romania and then came to Augsburg via Munich. But I've already lived here for 40 years.

How long have you been working with Linux and why?

I have been using Linux/Unix systems since the beginning of my professional career, mostly for servers. This is mainly for performance, security and cost reasons, to break it down to the most important points.

How do you know TUXEDO?

My brother told me about TUXEDO – he is a big Linux enthusiast. He made me curious.

Why did you want to work here?

After 10 years as a freelance developer and almost the same number of years in the marketing and agency environment, I wanted to get "back to the roots" and work in a profession in a technical environment. I found this opportunity at TUXEDO.

What do you do in your field?

I take care of the store development and, in addition to new features and bug fixes, I also try to modernize the codebase of the store and ensure that it is future-proof.

What do you particularly like about TUXEDO / the devices?

Some team members cook together for lunch – I like to join in and contribute produce from my garden. I really enjoy the team spirit here. For me, TUXEDO as a company is a relatively unique mixture of system house, hardware manufacturer, software developer and marketing company. In addition to the general advantages of a pre-installed Linux system, the devices offer a pleasant working experience, smart defaults and a very good selection of pre-installed packages. Together with the top hardware, I think it's a fantastic combination for Linux veterans and newcomers alike.

What do you dream of for the (TUXEDO) future? What motivates you at TUXEDO?

That TUXEDO can continue to celebrate success, continue to have fun at work and with colleagues and a bug-free store codebase. It was definitely the right decision for me to work here.

Something else personal: what are your hobbies?

Although I spend a lot of time on the computer, I also like to keep myself busy offline. For example, I read a lot: in addition to classic literature and biographies of interesting personalities, I also often read specialist books. I also like to spend time in my vegetable garden and grow chili peppers, among other things. And I've been an avid gamer since my first PC as a child. Not only do I like games, but I'm also very interested in game design. I like to play games with clever mechanics where the "game" itself is fun. At the moment, for example, I regularly play a few rounds of Balatro in the evening.
