TUXEDO OS Tips & Tricks: Clever and Useful

Sticky Notes via Drag & Drop on the Desktop

With KDE Sticky Notes, you can highlight text passages in applications and drag & drop them directly onto your desktop. This automatically creates a note that remains visible at all times. This way, you always have important information at hand and can efficiently organize your desktop with personal reminders and to-do lists.

On X11 this method works seamlessly across all applications, while Wayland still requires further development. In non-KDE applications like Firefox or LibreOffice, the note may remain empty. As a useful alternative, you can copy the desired text to the clipboard using Ctrl+C (or the context menu) and then create a note on your desktop by clicking with the middle mouse button.

Plasma Integration Add-on for Firefox and Chrome

The Plasma Integration add-on for Firefox and Chrome allows you to seamlessly integrate your browser with the KDE desktop. The add-on enhances your browser’s functionality, enabling you to conveniently control media playback, such as videos or music, directly. Additionally, it keeps you informed about download progress—notifications ensure you always stay up to date.

With extra features like KDE Connect for effortlessly sending links to your smartphone and Krunner support to jump directly to an open tab, the integration between your web browser and the KDE environment becomes even more seamless. This results in a more efficient and connected desktop experience.

Automatically Matching Desktop Colors to Wallpaper

In the KDE desktop, you can automatically adjust the accent color to match the wallpaper. To enable this feature, open the System Settings, navigate to Colors & Themes, and select the Colors section. There, you will find the option Accent color from wallpaper, which dynamically adjusts the accent color to the predominant hues of your wallpaper.
