Solid yet light chassis in an unobtrusive business look

Business laptop on the outside, fast Linux gamer on the inside: LED lighting elements all over the place and eye-catching bells and whistles are unknown to the subtle and elegant Linux gaming laptop: the Polaris 15 relies on a classic understatement look that allows to bring it to the office, meeting or lecture hall without attracting smirking glances.

Another advantage of the matte black plastic chassis is its weight of 2.2 kg, which is comfortably light for its performance class. Thanks to the highly power-efficient AMD proecessor, the TUXEDO Polaris 15 also comes with a compact and lightweight 230-watt power supply, which makes the Linux gamer a fairly portable high-performance computer without making compromises on cooling compared to many thin & light competitors.

The quiet membrane keyboard with numeric keypad provides a pleasant typing feel with a clearly defined pressure point and features an RGB key backlight which can be set to any color and adjusted in 4 brightness levels.

The 115 x 73 mm Microsoft Precision Clickpad with integrated mouse buttons convinces with a smooth surface for good haptics and can be quickly (de)activated if required via a double-finger tap in the upper left corner of the touch field.

To adequately cool both the CPU and graphics card and ensure high sustained performance levels, the Polaris 15 comes with two 11mm fans and 5 heat pipes, which quickly transport the heat from the chips to 4 air outlets at the sides and the back of the device.

In addition, the bottom panel (D-Cover) was stepped outwards a bit to improve the internal airflow by letting the fans suck in more hot air of inside the enclosure and to push it out via the outlets.

Highly efficient & powerful: AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS

The TUXEDO Polaris 15 - Gen5 relies on the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS with the latest, highly efficient Zen 4 architecture. The "HS" series of the Ryzen proecessor lineup stands for an optimum balance of performance and power efficiency.

The AMD eight-core CPU can handle up to 16 processing tasks, so-called "threads", simultaneously and takes on them with clock speeds of up to 5.1 GHz.

Due to the innovative, state-of-the-art manufacturing process in 4 nm, the high-tech CPU achieves a great performance-per-watt ratio, resulting in about 13 % better single core and 17 % faster multicore performance than on the previous Zen 3+ architecture (6 nm), like the lower tier Ryzen 7 7735HS or the popular last-gen Ryzen 7 6800H.

While AMD specifies the Ryzen 7 7840HS with a Thermal Design Power (TDP) of up to 54 watts, the Polaris 15's slightly thicker chassis allows for either quieter fan noise compared to thinner and/or Intel-based competitors or for pushing the TDP further to up to 80 watts for providing great performance for gaming and content creation.

Fast NVIDIA graphics for work & play!

For high frame rates in games and fast GPU renderings, the Polaris 15 - Gen5 is powered by NVIDIA's efficiency- and performance-enhanced graphics processing units introduced in January 2023 in the form of the GeForce RTX 4050 and RTX 4060.

But that's not all: While NVIDIA defines a huge range of performance levels between 35 and 115 watts, the Polaris 15 comes only with the fastest 115 watt variants!

NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4050 is the entry-level model. With 6 GB of GDDR6 memory, it replaces the old RTX 3060 in terms of performance and is thus a good choice for gaming in Full HD or - with reduced graphics details - in WQHD.

With 2 GB of additional VRAM and over 20% higher performance, the GeForce RTX 4060 is our price-performance tip and equally suitable for high-fps gaming in Full HD or high to maximum graphics details in WQHD.

Both GPUs can automatically shift up to 25 watts of power from the CPU to the GPU via Dynamic Boost - depending on the application and system load. However, this only seems to happen in special apps and rare scenarios with the new RTX 4000 series graphics cards (regardless of the notebook manufacturer and operating system).

Fast, high-resolution 15.6-inch WQHD display

For crisp high-resolution Linux gaming and high-detail image or video editing, the TUXEDO Polaris 15 comes with a 15.6-inch screen in WQHD resolution.

While the 2560 x 1440 pixels distributed on the 34.5 x 19.5 cm screen surface ensures a sharp, fine-resolution image, the 165 Hz refresh rate provides very quick response times in the heat of battle, even in very fast, competitive games.

In conjunction with the around 95 % sRGB color space coverage and the display brightness of over 300 nits, the 15.6-inch display provides a sharp and colorful reproduction for multimedia, gaming and content creation alike.

Ryzen 7 7840HS and 62 Wh battery for up to 6 hours

The great power efficiency of the Ryzen 7 7840HS helps the Linux gamer with its internally screwed 62 Wh battery to reach runtimes of around 5 hours with medium display brightness and WiFi video streaming and up to over 6 hours with local video playback (WiFi and Bluetooth off).

When the battery is running low or when the full performance of the CPU and/or GPU is required, the Polaris 15 is powered by the compact (152 x 76 x 26 mm) and light (670 g incl. power cable) 230-watt power supply.

For an energy-saving operation, we recommend our specially tuned power profiles as well as the manual CPU power limit control in our inhouse-developed TUXEDO Control Center, which comes pre-installed on your TUXEDO laptop.

For stationary use plugged into a wall outlet, battery charge control profiles let you define charging limits for increasing your battery's life span.

Up to 8 TB SSD mass storage and 96(!) GB DDR5 RAM

Of course, the TUXEDO Polaris 15 features both user-upgradable SO-DIMM RAM slots as well as expandable M.2 SSD mass storage.

After removing the Linux laptop's bottom panel, which is of course covered by the warranty, two RAM slots for up to 2x 48 GB of fast DDR5 memory with up to 5600 MHz clock speeds as well as two M.2 SSDs for max. 8 terabytes with PCIe 4.0 high-speed connection are easily accessible for replacement.

For even more storage space, you get 10 GB myTUXEDO cloud storage for free with every TUXEDO laptop or PC. This way, you can access your data conveniently and securely (encrypted and hosted in compliance with german data protection regulations) at any time from anywhere and with any Internet-capable laptop, PC or smartphone.

4x USB, HDMI and Mini DisplayPort

The TUXEDO Polaris 15 - Gen5 intelligently distributes its ports according to the frequency of use on the case:

While frequently used ports such as USB-A, headphone/microphone jack and the SD card reader are easily accessible on the sides, less often used interfaces to monitors, the RJ45 LAN port and the power connector are located at the rear of the case to route their cables away to the back side for a non-distracting cable management.

For hooking up two external monitors, the Polaris 15 comes with HDMI 2.1 and Mini-DisplayPort 1.4a, which allow to use up to 3 monitors including the internal laptop display. Data-wise, the Linux gaming laptop features 4x USB (3x USB-A, 1x USB-C), an SD card reader and the obligatory RJ-45 LAN connector.
