StarkStrom presents Red Goblin 2.0
turning old into new

Last Thursday it was that time again: The Formula Student Team StarkStrom from Augsburg University of Applied Sciences invited team members, friends, family, university staff and sponsors to present the new vehicle for the upcoming season.

In order to keep the tension to a minimum, the welcome and speeches by invited guests such as the President and Chairman of the Extended Executive Board of the University, Prof Dr Dr h.c. Gordon Thomas Rohrmaier, and Annika Litzel, the representative and Marketing and PR Manager of TUXEDO Computers, were kept as brief as possible.

This was followed by showcasing the new features that the racing car had undergone this year:

New wheel assembly, gearbox and carbon rims

Among other things, a new wheel assembly was developed that could be produced using the SLM process in 3D printing. This made it possible to design and print moulds for the topology-optimised wheel carriers that only contain the exact amount of material required for the stability of the component without changing or reducing the performance of the racing car. A new gearbox was also integrated, the engines of a new sponsor were put to use and new carbon rims were developed in-house.

Proven: TUXEDO for the “inner workings”

As in the previous season, StarkStrom was technically equipped by TUXEDO with the latest generation of laptops and desktop PCs: The mainboard of the TUXEDO Stellaris once again serves as a car PC in the RoKo v2.

The mainboard of the laptop is more powerful than that of a desktop PC and it draws less energy, so we not only have a general saving here, but also the possibility of more test times with the vehicle Tobias Holmer, Technical Director Software at StarkStrom.

An Infinity S is available to the team at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences for previous work and simulations.

No participation in Formula Student Germany

There is one important change for the team this year: as the team has also become smaller due to the decreasing number of students, the decision was made not to manufacture a new monocoque for the vehicle.

This rules out participation in Formula Student Germany. Nevertheless, StarkStrom will take part in three races with RoKo 2.0 starting in August: Formula Student Czech Republic, Formula Student Poland and Formula SAE Italy.

The TUXEDO team keeps fingers crossed and wishes you lots of success!
