New TUXEDO for contact in Augsburg e. V.

On January 17th, Roswitha Kugelmann, founder of the „contact in Augsburg e.V.“ thrift store, was delighted to receive a new TUXEDO Notebook. The device, customized with the thrift store’s logo, replaces a laptop that was stolen during a break-in. Along with the laptop, a Kensington lock was donated to help prevent future thefts. Luise Domnick and Annika Litzel from TUXEDO personally delivered the notebook.

TUXEDO had previously supported the thrift store in 2021 following a similar incident, providing a replacement notebook at that time as well. Here is the article from back then.

Sponsorship Instead of Purchase

„The team at contact reached out to us via email and asked if we might be able to locate the stolen device – that’s how we learned about the break-in,“ explains Annika Litzel, Marketing and PR Manager at TUXEDO. Initially, the thrift store’s team intended to pay for the new notebook themselves.

„We decided to donate the device again to support their dedicated work on-site,“ says Herbert Feiler, Managing Director of TUXEDO. For the thrift store, a TUXEDO Aura 15 - Gen1 was prepared and handed over. Here is an overview of the current Aura 15 series.

The „contact in Augsburg e.V.“ Thrift Store

The non-profit organization was founded in 1999 by Roswitha Kugelmann and Mike Rühl, along with nine other supporters. Its funding comes entirely from the proceeds of its own operations.

The thrift store offers second-hand goods of all kinds – from household items and small electronics to furniture, clothing, books, and toys. Shopping here is open to everyone, helping to boost the self-esteem of those who cannot afford new goods without stigmatizing them.

Today, the organization employs 130 permanent staff members, with an additional 50 people working as interns or volunteers – ranging in age from 16 to 87.
