Latest TUXEDO OS ISO includes option for encryption

After extensive testing, we have released an updated ISO of TUXEDO OS for you. Highlight is the guided encryption in the installer. Please note that our script only works with UEFI, not with conventional BIOS. There, the option is not displayed.

The new ISO also updates the KDE Frameworks libraries to version 5.112, the KDE software collection KDE Gear to version 23.08.3, as well as Pipewire 1.0 and Wireplumber 0.4.17. We have also pre-installed the xdg-desktop-portal-gtk package so that the fonts of GTK applications are also displayed correctly under Wayland. Besides that, we activated the KWallet password management in the installation by default.

Encryption with LUKS2

The centerpiece of the new version of TUXEDO OS is the option of a guided encryption within the Calamares installer. This is also possible in a dual boot scenario with Windows or a second Linux distribution. We will also instruct you on how to reduce the size of a partition if necessary in order to create space for the installation. We describe the scenario of a dual-boot situation to be created, where Windows previously occupied the entire hard drive, in a detailed article in our knowledge base.

Encryption via WebFAI

If, on the other hand, you want to perform encryption during a WebFAI installation, we also have you covered. You will find instructions on how to activate a factory-encrypted installation or perform a new encrypted installation via WebFAI.
