Once Japan and back
and TUXEDO Computers was also there

User Frank Tronack has fulfilled his dream and travelled three weeks through Japan. Of course a laptop from TUXEDO Computers could not be missing in his luggage.

Einmal Japan und zurück – und TUXEDO Computers war dabei

Guest contribution. In 2018 it finally happened: Frank Tornack could travel to his dreamland and spent three weeks in Japan. From Leipzig via Düsseldorf in Germany he flew directly to Tokyo and started his round trip, which was to take him to 9 cities. From Tokyo he went to Yokohama, Shizuoka, then to Nara and Kobe. Further on to Beppu, Sakaiminato, Osaka and Narita. Osaka turned out to be the city he liked best. Always with him was an InfinityBook Pro 13 from TUXEDO Computers. He enthusiastically told TUXEDO Computers about his trip.

Structured conditions and punctuality

Der Shinkansen ist das schnellste Fortbewegungsmittel in Japan. If you ask Frank Tornack what differences he noticed in Japan, he doesn't have to think long: "The people in Japan are socialized quite differently; it starts with getting on the train. In Germany, a large cluster of grapes forms in front of the door, while in Japan everyone is standing neatly in a row, but gets on quickly. Trains, subways and all public transport are always very punctual." And should the vehicle be a minute late, the driver apologises to the passengers via the loudspeakers.

JR PASS and PASMO Card

Travelling in Japan is very pleasant for non-Japanese people: "There is the "JAPANESE RAILWAY PASS", which can be regarded as a cheap short-term railcard. This is valid for all routes of the JR Group. For the buses and private trains you simply use a PASMO/SUICA card". A PASMO Card is a prepaid NFC payment card. Apart from local transport, it can also be used at drinks vending machines and in supermarkets, where the credit is automatically deducted.

Für die Busse und Privatbahnen nutzt man einfach noch eine PASMO/SUICA-Karte.

Cleanliness

He noticed further differences: "The country is much cleaner than ours, because people pay attention to it together. There is very little graffiti and the Japanese take the garbage home with them - it is not disposed of in nature. Nevertheless they love packaging and you always get a small plastic bag for your shopping." But space is rather scarce: "He makes sure that the buildings are built high up - especially in Tokyo the number of skyscrapers is enormous."

Food and quality

Die Verpflegung in Japan hat grundsätzlich eine hohe Qualität.Frank Tornack can also tell a lot about food here: "The convenience stores in Japan are also a big difference: Here you can get your bought ready meals prepared on request and eat them in the shop." The food in Japan is basically of high quality - even for convenience products - and Frank Tornack has eaten just about everything between Kobe beef and ready-to-eat soup. The prices for vegetables and fruit are, however, higher than in Germany because a lot is imported. "By far there isn't much difference in price." Except for coffee - which is a bit more expensive, but very tasty.

Always the InfinityBook Pro 13 with you

Frank Tornack owns an InfinityBook Pro 13 and has installed the Linux operating system Arch himself. "The battery life and size of the device are great for traveling. The power supply is no problem, as 99% of the power supplies can work with 110 volts - even those from TUXEDO Computers. So you only need one adapter for the plug."

Small travel companion

Immer das InfinityBook Pro 13 dabeiHe had taken the notebook with him to upload photos from the camera and from "Panono" - a special panorama camera - as well as for travel planning on site. Since he wasn't traveling with a travel group, but on his own, he also had to take care of unplanned changes on his own: "I wanted to travel one night on the night train, it was completely booked out and a new hotel had to be planned. With the InfinityBook Pro 13 I was able to quickly search for a new accommodation and book it right away". The supply with free WLAN in hotels, long-distance trains, train stations, shops and city centers is available. For the remaining moments, he had a device available for a worldwide LTE hotspot.

He also experienced a very positive response to his InfinityBook Pro 13: "I was asked about the brand several times by Japanese people and a tourist from China. The devices in Japan are sometimes even thicker than our devices in Germany, but they also have optical drives. I think the Japanese like the quality of the workmanship very much because they pay a lot of attention to it and service."

The InfinityBook Pro 13 will always be there in the future too

When asked where he would have liked it best, he explains: "That's hard to answer ... The hotel in Sakaiminato was perfect. In this very traditional house you walked in socks or barefoot. And the onsen (Japanese hot spring or hot spring bath in the hotel) on the roof was just a dream. Also the Cup Noodles Museum in Yokohama was very beautiful, here I could put together my own Cup Noodles". One thing is for sure for the next trips: "I bought another device some time ago, because it synchronizes the data directly into a cloud, but I will use my InfinityBook Pro 13 from TUXEDO Computers for future trips", Frank Tornack confirms.

Ich werde für zukünftige Ausflüge mein InfinityBook Pro 13 von TUXEDO Computers verwenden.
