Maintenance access via AnyDesk

We use the AnyDesk software for remote access. This is available in different versions for both Linux and Windows. End users can use the program free of charge. For Windows, we recommend the standalone version, which does not need to be installed.

Installation under Linux

Via the TUXEDO Control Centre

The quickest way to install AnyDesk is via the pre-installed TUXEDO Control Center (TCC). Simply click on the menu item Support at the bottom, then on Remote support in the main window and on the button Install AnyDesk in the area that opens. As soon as the package is installed, you can call up the remote maintenance software directly via the TCC.

Our support staff can then access your desktop using the ID number given under Your Address or an alias address. The connection must be confirmed by you with a mouse click. Unauthorized access by us or third parties is impossible. As soon as you close the connection or the program, your desktop can no longer be accessed.

Via the package management (graphical and terminal)

Alternatively, you can also install AnyDesk via the software management. With TUXEDO OS installed by us, this is done via the Discover package management or from the command line using the following command.

sudo apt install anydesk

Optionally, you can download the software for Debian and all Ubuntu derivatives such as Linux Mint in the form of a DEB package, which you can install by double-clicking from a file manager. To do this, open the website download.anydesk.com/linux in a browser and download the file anydesk_version_amd64.deb to your computer.

If you have installed the Linux operating system manually and not run our TUXEDO tomte configuration service, you will also need the libgtkglext1 package. Please install this yourself via the package management (under Ubuntu and all Debian derivatives with the following command).

sudo apt install libgtkglext1

Cross-distribution (for most Linux distributions)

As an alternative installation method, the application is available as a TAR.GZ archive that can be used across distributions. Please download the file anydesk-latest-amd64.tar.gz, click on it with the right mouse button and select Unzip " Unzip archive here (the menu entries may be different depending on your desktop environment). Now go to the folder anydesk-latest-amd64\anydesk-version-number and double-click on the file anydesk.

AnyDesk should now open and nothing stands in the way of maintenance access by us. If, contrary to expectations, AnyDesk does not open, please install the package libgtkglext1 via the package management and then double-click on the file anydesk.

Installation under Windows

For Windows users, Anydesk offers a portable version integrated into the setup. Please download the file AnyDesk.exe and double-click on it. AnyDesk should then start immediately and nothing should stand in the way of maintenance access by us. When exiting, you then have the option of permanently installing AnyDesk for Windows on your system. You do not need to select this option if you no longer wish to use AnyDesk.
